Platform1™ is an ethical, value based and crime-fighting focused ANPR/LPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition / License Plate Recognition) software and camera management suite.

The primary function of the platform is to provide camera owners/operators a secure cloud-based solution for efficient, cost-effective camera operation with the goal of securing data, ensuring strict access control and usage policies, and reducing maintenance-related costs and down time.

The software is designed to protect clients’ collected data and Platform1™ does not engage in ANY data mining or manipulation and does NOT sell access to collected data.

What Platform1™ is:

  • Based in Cape Town, South Africa, we are currently offering a well-proven beta-release version of the software to select clients.
  • We are a software platform, not an owner of “data”. This means that data such as plate reads, images and vehicles of interest databases remain the property of the owning entity. Platform1 does not own any of your data and your data will never be mined, commercialised or sold.
  • Platform1 is restricted in its use to lawful crime-fighting initiatives only.
  • Our goal is to enable the growth of LPR/ANPR as a tool to prevent and fight crime, with emphasis on citizen privacy.
  • We are an ‘Exempted Micro Enterprise’ under current B-BBEE legislation which carries with it B-BBEE Level 4 Contributor: 100% Procurement Recognition status.

What Platform1™ is not:

  • We are not a central Vehicle of Interest (VOI) database provider – clients can either run their own local database(s) or, if based in Cape Town, South Africa, they can apply for membership with the LPR User Group (LPRUG) and if approved, can form part of the LPRUG network.
  • We do not sell access to plate reads nor do we grant access to users' collected data to any persons or entities.
  • We do not accept as clients any persons or entities who intend to use their LPR assets for any purpose other than lawful crime-fighting activities.
  • We do not provide any information or data to any party for any purpose, other than directly to clients when the information pertains to their data or to SAPS in the form of Forensic LPR Reports.
  • We are not an installer or maintainer of camera hardware or assets.

Platform1™ offers clients peace of mind, knowing that you remain in control of your data at all times with a clear and transparent access agreement: data will never be mined, commercialised or sold.

Seamless database integration

For approved local entities, Platform1™ seamlessly integrates into the most trusted Vehicle of Interest (VOI) database in the Greater Cape Town Region for maximum security and effect. This next-generation crime-fighting network is truly distributed and prides itself on data integrity.

Cloud-based

  • No physical server or storage device is required on the client side; all images, plate reads, and databases are stored on our cloud servers.
  • Default image and plate-read storage of twelve (12) months.
  • Servers remain online during load shedding and while cameras may be offline, you will still have access to your collected data.
  • Fully backed up redundant storage ensures minimal downtime in the event of a drive failure or similar incident.
  • Web-based access means Platform1 can be accessed from anywhere and on various devices, although it is not yet optimised for mobile devices.

  • All data is stored on cloud-based servers in secure South African data centres and no data is transferred or stored overseas.
  • 24/7 monitoring of all IT systems and networks with immediate response to any potential threat.
  • System back-end security is continually monitored and adapted to meet industry standards, and exceed them wherever possible.
  • User data strictly compartmentalised to ensure no unauthorised access of collected user data.
  • Platform1 is currently on a path to becoming ISO 27001 certified. We aim to become a demonstrated leader in information security- from our vision for LPR data, through to our backend systems and administration.
