Platform1’s LPR system only allows the tracking of vehicles that have been linked to serious and violent criminal activity, known as Vehicles of Interest (VOIs). We receive information on VOIs from the SAPS, law enforcement agencies and community safety organisations. Most VOIs are linked to a SAPS case number, and others are vetted and added to the database while investigations are ongoing or case numbers are pending, to facilitate fast law enforcement response. We encourage all victims of crime to open cases at their local SAPS station. We do not track vehicles for traffic infringements or for any other purpose.
